Open Reading Period—Poetry March 1- June 15, 2020

YesYes Books holds an annual Open Reading Period for full-length poetry manuscripts. We publish at least one poetry manuscript from the ORP each year. We do not guarantee that we will publish more than one book from the annual ORP in poetry but historically we have published as many as four full-lengths from a single year’s submission pool. Details and Instructions: • Submission period is March 1- 11:59pm PST June 15. • All submissions must be made through our Submittable system which will take entries starting on March 1. • The $22 reading fee covers submission management and entitles you to one title in our current catalog (unless it is sold out or available by subscription only). Please include your book choice and your mailing address in the Submittable cover letter. • Manuscripts must include 48-120 numbered pages of poetry and a table of contents. An acknowledgments page is not required but can be included. • Collaborations by more than one author are acceptable for submission. • Manuscripts with combined poetry and visual art are acceptable as well. • A brief bio in the cover letter is optional. • Manuscript revisions are not allowed during the Open Reading Period. You are welcome to withdraw and resubmit your manuscript but it will require an additional reading fee. • Simultaneous submissions are fine (of course!), just let us know if your manuscript is picked up elsewhere by putting a note in the Submittable system. • All decisions regarding the submissions to this reading period will be made on or about September 1. • All submitters will be contacted directly prior to a public announcement. Full Length publication with YYB comes with the following: • 40 author copies • $1000 advance toward royalties • 15%-25% royalties • $500 toward tour expenses Email us at info@yesyesbooks.com if you have additional questions. Thank you for considering YesYes Books for your work. We look forward to reading your manuscript! KMA Sullivan Publisher, YesYes Books

Open Reading Period—Fiction March 1- June 15, 2020

YesYes Books held its first Open Reading Period for full-length fiction manuscripts in 2017, and we are excited to continue holding an annual ORP for fiction. We consider manuscripts in a broad range of genre and narrative styles but, in general, we desire fiction of strong voice and ebullient ingenious imagination. Think Kelly Link, Octavia Butler, Noy Holland, Michael Cunningham, Terry Pratchett, and Nnedi Okorafor. We reserve the right not to choose a manuscript but hope to publish at least one fiction manuscript from each ORP. Details and Instructions: • Submission period is March 1 - 11:59pm PST June 15. • All submissions must be made through our Submittable system which will take entries starting on March 1. • The $22 Reading Fee covers submission management and entitles you to one title in our current catalog (unless it is sold out or available through subscription only). Please include your book choice and your mailing address in the Submittable cover letter. • Submit an excerpt consisting of up to 50 pages of your novel, novella, or short story collection. You may include a cover letter with a summary of the project as a whole (not more than two pages) but such a cover letter is not required. Revisions are not allowed during submission period. You are welcome to withdraw and resubmit the sample but it will require an additional submission fee. • Collaborations by more than one author are acceptable for submission. • Manuscripts with combined prose and visual art are acceptable as well. • A brief bio in the cover letter is optional. • Simultaneous submissions are fine (of course!), just let us know if your manuscript is picked up elsewhere by putting a note in the Submittable system. • Semi-finalists will be chosen by July 1 and will be invited to submit full manuscripts. • Semi-finalist authors will be given two months from invitation to send in their full manuscripts. Full-length publication with YYB comes with the following: • 40 author copies • $1000 advance toward royalties • 15%-25% royalties • $500 toward tour expenses Email us at info@yesyesbooks.com if you have additional questions. Thank you for considering YesYes Books for your work. We look forward to reading your manuscript! KMA Sullivan Publisher, YesYes Books

2021 Pamet River Prize—November 1, 2020 - January 15, 2021

The Pamet River Prize is an annual, nomination-based contest open to first or second full-length books of poetry or prose by women, non-binary, and Native writers. You may nominate your own work or the work of others during the nomination period. In the past our submission pool has been about 50% of each and nomination by self or others has no bearing on the work being chosen in the end. Details and Instructions: • Nomination period runs November 1 - 11:59 pm PST January 15. • All submissions must be made through our Submittable system which will take entries starting on November 1. • Nomination fee is $15 to cover submission management. • Provide a cover letter with name, contact information, and a brief bio of the writer whose work is being nominated. If you are nominating the work of a writer other than yourself, you are welcome to include some words regarding why you are nominating the work of this particular writer—though such testimony is not required. If you are nominating your own work (which we also strongly encourage), along with your brief bio you may include a few words on your full-length project—again, this is not required. Max word count for bio and statement is 250 words. • Submit a sample consisting of a) 10 poems, b) a single story, or c) a section of a novella, memoir, or short novel. Maximum length of sample is 20 pages. • Sample revisions are not allowed during nomination period. You are welcome to withdraw and resubmit the sample but it will require an additional fee. • Semi-finalists chosen from nominated samples will be invited to submit full manuscripts. They will be given two months from invitation to send in their full manuscripts. Semifinalists will be announced on or around April 1. Winner of the Pamet River Prize receives the following: • Publication with YesYes Books • 40 author copies • $1000 prize (not treated as advance toward royalties) • 15%-25% royalties • $500 toward tour expenses YYB may also offer publication to manuscripts beyond the winner. Those authors will receive everything listed above except for the prize money, but will receive a $1000 advance toward royalties. The winner and finalists are chosen by KMA Sullivan, YesYes Books Publisher and Vinyl CoEditor in Chief, and Stevie Edwards, YesYes Books Senior Editor of Book Development. Email us at info@yesyesbooks.com if you have additional questions. Go to our Submittable page when you are ready to nominate. Thank you for considering YesYes Books. We look forward to reading your nominations! KMA Sullivan, Publisher, YesYes Books
